Uesugi Kenshin’s childhood name was Torachiyo, and he was named Nagao Kagetora after the coming-of age ceremony. He took the field against his elder brother, Harukage, in the 17th of Tempo era, and in the series of engagements by Uesugi Sadazane who is Shugo (Military Governor), Kenshin took over controlling the clan of Nagao and became the lord of Kasugayama Castle. He went to the wars in Hokuriku, Shinano Kanto afterward, ruffling the flags which were navy blue color with the Rising Sun and white one with the letter of “毘.” “The battle of Kawanakajima” which are the five battles between Takeda Shingen and Kenshin is the most famous in the Sengoku period. In the 4th of Tensho era, he made peace with the Hongwanji, cut off an alliance with Oda Nobunaga, cooperated with M?ri Motonari from the Chugoku region of Japan and prepared the strategy of a pincer attack for Nobunaga. In September of the next year, he conquered the Notonanao Castle which was under control of the Oda, then won the battle against the force of Nobunaga at Kagatedori river.
ZIPANG made an armor of Uesugi Kenshin with such legend elaborately miniaturized. Giving more than a passing thought to heroic stories of men running through the Sengoku period, please enjoy your favorite sake.
